Flora - Fauna
 

Agistri consists of low green hills, which are covered by dense pine forests. Agistri is the third island in Greece that has a green ratio (80%).

In Agistri, in addition to pine and pine trees, you will find olive groves, fig trees, almond trees and vines. Mainly in the pine-covered hills you will see rare wild flowers, fennel, aromatic and medicinal herbs, thyme, oregano, sage and chamomile.

In the fields that exist in Agistri, wheat and barley are usually sown among the figs, olives and almond trees.

Traditionally the main products of the island are pine resin, olive oil, cereals, cotton, fruit and vegetables, fruits, figs, almonds and barley.

The island is surrounded by many small bays and windy coves with clear blue waters, in most of which the pine trees reach to the sea.

The fauna of the island consists of hares, wild rabbits, foxes, mice, hedgehogs, badgers, weasels, turtles, snakes and lizards.

As for birds, there are crows, swallows, rock swallows, sparrows, owls, terns, owls, seabirds, wood pigeons, buzzards, blackbirds, robins, magpies and various songbirds such as finches and goldfinches.

The marine ecosystem around Agistri presents a wide variety of species, such as: mullet, sardine, atherina, anchovy, gopa, bonito, mullet, mullet, cod, mullet, cobie, mackerel, saffron, pollock, spar, bream, perch, hanos, sargos, scorpionfish, flounder, stira, ruff, grouper, sea bream, sea bass, bream, octopus, cuttlefish, flounder, herring, mullet, zargana and many other different types of seafood.
